Gregg Roman Appointed MEF Director

PHILADELPHIA – May 11, 2015 – The Middle East Forum is pleased to announce the appointment of Gregg Roman as its director. Amy Shargel, who currently serves in this position, will become head of special projects.

Mr. Roman will direct the Forum’s operations, functioning as chief operating officer. He will supervise, consolidate, and expand existing programs, as well as venture into new fields of activity. He is scheduled to take up this position in August 2015.

He has studied national security studies at the American University (in Washington). Mr. Roman has worked in Israel’s Defense and Foreign Ministries as well as at the Interdisciplinary Center (in Herzliya, Israel) and the Clarion Fund. He currently serves as head of the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation in Pittsburgh.

Ms. Shargel, in her new part-time role, will focus on expanding MEF’s fundraising, coordinating its Education Fund, and other tasks.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she also received a master’s degree in International Relations, Ms. Shargel helped establish the Middle East Forum in 1994. She has served in a number of positions in the organization and played a central role in its growth.
