The Crown is expected to wrap up arguments Monday that an Ottawa sociology professor should face an extradition hearing on charges he’s responsible for a deadly 1980 Paris synagogue bombing.
Lawyers for Hassan Diab are asking a judge to throw out the hearing, arguing serious misrepresentations in France’s evidence amount to an abuse of process and Diab’s rights.
The Crown argues that the defence claims are groundless and none of the disputed evidence affect the “core” of what they’ve described as a circumstantial but strong case Diab is the bomber. The extradition hearing was scheduled to run until Dec. 3.
