Georgetown Professor Gives Lecture on Islamophobia at the College at Brockport [on John Esposito]

Brockport, N.Y. (WROC) - One of the nation’s leaders in fostering Muslim-Christian relations spoke at The College at Brockport Thursday night. Georgetown University Professor, Dr. John Esposito, addressed Islamophobia in the U.S.

The lecture was part of the Malik Series which focused on the need to build bridges and dialogue on controversial issues.

“I think these conversations are important because I think, for people who know something, they can learn other perspectives. And for people that don’t have any background, it opens them up. It’s not like they walk away with a lot of answers. But what they may walk away with is a lot of questions [and] an interest in checking out those questions and getting the answers. And I think one needs to do that,” said Esposito.

Dr. Esposito is a Professor of Religion, International Affairs, and Islamic Studies.
