Progressive Twitter Celebrates Rush Limbaugh’s Cancer Diagnosis [incl. Reza Aslan]

How much must leftists be hurting to take delight in such a thing?

Conservative radio host and longtime political commentator Rush Limbaugh announced on his program Monday that he has advanced lung cancer and will be taking time off to receive treatment.

Shortly after Limbaugh revealed his diagnosis, prominent leftists rushed to Twitter to celebrate the fact that someone they opposed politically may soon meet an untimely — and likely painful — demise.

Former CNN host Reza Aslan, whose show Believer was canceled by CNN after he called the president a ‘piece of shit’ on Twitter, did a shoddy job of downplaying his joy at the Limbaugh news.

‘Ask yourself this simple question: is the world a better place or a worse place with Rush Limbaugh in it?’ Aslan tweeted Monday evening.

Aslan later claimed he wasn’t ‘celebrating’ the cancer diagnosis, merely posing a ‘philosophical question,’ kind of like whether or not it is ever acceptable to eat human brains with a tribe of cannibals.

Limbaugh ‘is a curse upon this nation, a purveyor of hatred and racism who’s at the very least indirectly responsible for the mass suffering of countless people,’ wrote the man who is definitely not ‘celebrating.’

Other blue-check Twitterazis joined in on the parade, including freelance MLB reporter Jon Tayler, self-described '#1 Race Baiter’ Tariq Nasheed, and comic artist Adam Ellis.

‘Rush Limbaugh has spent his life spreading racism, homophobia, and hate. And he doesn’t think poor people deserve healthcare. I hope he thinks about that while he’s getting expensive treatment. But he won’t. Oh well. He’ll have plenty of time to ponder over it in hell,’ Ellis said.

This was, of course, not altogether shocking as Ellis’s Twitter username is '@moby_dickhead’ and he likes to tweet very clever insults at Trump like, ‘retire orange bitch.’

These progressives are conflating civility with complicity. Conservatives who are free to speak or act challenge the left’s political goals and thus must be removed from the public sphere by any means possible.

The situation becomes even more dire when activists believe failure to implement their policies — like Medicare for All — literally means life or death. The removal of a conservative commentator with the platform of Limbaugh is good, they reason, because it makes it more likely that they can save so many others by passing universal health care.

Utilitarianism at its most woke.

It is the same sentiment that drives Antifa to attack so-called ‘fascists’ with bike locks, pro-choicers to roundhouse kick pro-life activists, and, of course, cancel culture.

Leftists similarly celebrated the death of David Koch, former Fox News host Eric Bolling’s son, and conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly. It’s not enough to try to win at the ballot box anymore — many on the left want their opponents to suffer as much as they must be, deep down.
