Winter is here and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is marking the occasion in its usual fashion—by looking the other way as its staff and officials employ hate speech against Jews.
Earlier this month, Islamist Watch published a new piece in which we noted that though some CAIR staff expressed “solidarity” with the Jewish community after the Pittsburgh Tree of Life shooting, their expressions of sympathy and sorrow are proven disingenuous by the virulent anti-Semitism they spew elsewhere.
For example, Zohra Lasania of CAIR’s Pittsburgh branch has been quoted condemning the murders and offered “solidarity with the Jewish community during this time of shock and grief.” At the same time, Lasania uses social media to promote and endorse the anti-Semitic statements of Ken O’Keefe, a prominent Holocaust denier, whom even the Southern Poverty Law Center has condemned as a white supremacist and anti-Semite.
Then, there’s CAIR Los Angeles director, Hussam Ayloush, who signed a public letter condemning anti-Semitism after the Pittsburgh tragedy. Yet barely a year ago, he tweeted that “Jewish American kids” who joined the Israeli armed forces were responsible for war crimes. He also suggested these American Jews should be investigated by the government through counter-extremism programs.
We sent CAIR evidence of this duplicity and asked if the organization would comment on the included statements. As usual, CAIR refused to condemn its staff’s anti-Semitism, and would not comment on the dishonesty Lasania and Ayloush have shown. We even tweeted a request for comment, but CAIR again refused to condemn the bigotry of its own staff.
A few days later, Ayloush revealed more of his own anti-Semitism, tweeting that Israel is a “cancerous tumor” and a “murderous regime” that should be “terminated.” Seeking comment, we wrote CAIR again, and tweeted to CAIR-National, its director Nihad Awad, its communications director Ibrahim Hooper, its Los Angeles branch, and Hussam Ayloush himself. To nobody’s surprise, we received no response.
