Bristol dad denies revealing his daughter had a small FGM cut to taxi passenger

The man said an accusation he had discussed FGM with a passenger in his cab was a lie

A Bristol dad has denied his young daughter was subjected to female genital mutilation.

And he described as a lie a claim he admitted a small cut was done to his daughter, or even discussed FGM.

The 29-year-old dad, from an inner city area, faces a charge of assaulting / ill-treating / neglecting a child or young person to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.

The case relates to an allegation that a Type 4 female genital mutilation (FGM) procedure was carried out on his daughter, due to an injury found on her when she was aged six.

A court order is in place to ensure the child’s anonymity, so the dad cannot be named for legal reasons.
