Following are statements by British Islamist Anjem Choudary eulogizing Sheikh Anwar Al-Awlaki, posted on the Internet on October 1, 2011.
Anjem Choudary: Today, now that the murder – or indeed, the martyrdom – of Sheikh Anwar Al-Awlaki has been confirmed, may Allah accept him as a martyr. May Allah make his praise reach the East and the West. May Allah make him even more popular among the youth than he was before. May Allah protect his family and his relatives. May Allah [unintelligible] Sheikh Anwar Al-Awlaki in his place. May Allah never let the call for shari’a, for Jihad, and for Islam die, for the death or blood of any brother Muslim – this is a cause for all of the Muslims.
The best man, the Messenger Muhammad, passed away, but Islam never died. The shari’a never died. The Jihad never died. Sheikh Osama bin Laden passed away. May Allah set him a marty. Islam never died. The Jihad never died. Now we find that Sheikh Anwar Al-Awlaki passed away. May Allah set him a martyr. And there will be more Muslims who arise.
Remember: Sheikh Anwar Al-Awlaki in America was a guide – commanding good and forbidding evil, calling for Islam, and when he went to Yemen they declared war against him. They bombed his family, they called for his assassination. He has a right to defend himself, and to call people to defend themselves against the aggressors.
Some of the Muslims never forget who the real oppressors and aggressors are. It is America, its regime, and its lackeys in the Muslim world, like Bashar Al-Assad, like Hosni Mubarak, like Al-Qadhafi, like [Pakistani President Asif Ali] Zardari, like [Bangladeshi Prime Minister] Hasina – like all of the leaders in the Muslim countries.
