A Chelmsford man faces charges of forcing his wife to wear a headscarf outside of her bedroom, banning her from speaking to other men and beating her.
Abdelhadi Ahmed, 39, denied one count of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship, one count of criminal damage and two counts of assault by beating, at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning (July 6).
It is claimed that Ahmed, who lives on Woodland Road, repeatedly engaged in behaviour which was controlling towards his wife Soukaina Elkhouchaii, by expecting her to obey his commands, including not being in the presence of men and wearing a headscarf whenever outside of her bedroom between December 28, 2015 and March 21, 2016.
He also allegedly assaulted her on December 22, 2015 and March 19, 2016.
