French judges have dismissed a third allegation of rape against Islamic scholar Tariq Ramadan who is currently detained over two other rape claims, his lawyer said Tuesday.
The 55-year-old said he had a consensual relationship with Mounia Rabbouj, a French Muslim woman, who accused him of raping her nine times between 2013 and 2014, lawyer Emmanuel Marsigny said after a court hearing in Paris.
“The magistrates considered, following explanations from Mr Ramadan and some documents that he was able to provide, that there was no need to investigate Mr Ramadan concerning” the third woman, he added.
“He explained at length to the magistrates... that there had been sexual games, that there had been sexual relations as well, but that they were always freely consensual.”
