Jailed Islamic Scholar Tariq Ramadan Hospitalized Again

Prominent Islamic scholar Tariq Ramadan, who has been detained since February for his alleged sexual misconduct in France, was hospitalized once again on Thursday, according to French-based news outlet Le Figaro.

Le Figaro added that Ramadan was transferred Thursday from Fleury-Merogis to a supervised facility at the Pitié-Salpetriere hospital in Paris, according to Ramadan’s lawyer, Emmanuel Marsigny Reuters.

“The prison administration and medical staff have estimated that his health condition requires hospitalization,” said the lawyer.

Ramadan suffers from multiple sclerosis, which required his hospitalization on February 16. The scholar appealed the decision by French authorities to keep him in custody. He is being held as “part of a preliminary inquiry” into the allegations against him.
