The answer, unfortunately, is scores of hateful Islamist speakers.
This past April saw the one of the largest annual American Islamist gatherings ever. Set at the sprawling Walter E. Washington Convention center in our nation’s capital on April 19-21, and primarily organized by ICNA with help from the Muslim American Society (MAS), the conference webpage boasted more than 150 speakers—at least a third of whom (from what we can tell) have histories of anti-Semitism, homophobia, or other types of bigotry.
Some of our favorites from this year’s convention include:
- Prominent Muslim Brotherhood lobbyist Ahmed Shehata, who recently lobbied Congress along anti-Semitic and anti-Christian activist Ayat Oraby and Amr Darraj, who is wanted by Egyptian authorities on charges of coordinating terrorist activity in Egypt from his home in Turkey.
- Omar Suleiman, who has warned, without condemnation, that women who commit adultery risk being killed by a family member
- Yusuf Islahi, who has written “Do not take the initiative in offering ‘Salam’ to the Jews or Christians. The Holy Qur’an affirms the fact that the Jews are the worst nation as regards their disbelief, denial of truth, tyranny and savagery, falsehood and deception.”
For dozens more extreme speakers, see our comprehensive dossier about the annual conference below.
