MEF Research Forces CAIR to Condemn Its Own Former Official

PHILADELPHIA – April 18, 2019 – The Minnesota branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has condemned one of its own former officials after Middle East Forum research revealed his vile antisemitic views.

Abubakar Osman (aka Sadiqq Abu Osman), formerly CAIR-Minnesota’s Government Affairs Coordinator, wrote on Facebook in 2008: “i wish hitler was alive to fuck up the jewish ppl and add more jewish causalities to the 6 million he killed in the holocaust...”

In response, CAIR-Minnesota published a statement on its Facebook page: “we condemn these hateful and hurtful words in the strongest terms possible.” It promises to “move forward today even more committed to fighting anti-Semitism in all of its forms, no matter the source.”

Sam Westrop, director of the Middle East Forum’s Islamist Watch project, notes: “While CAIR-Minnesota’s denouncing its former official is welcome, why has it not also condemned its board member Abdul Basit, who has written that Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz “plots” against Senator Bernie Sanders because she is Jewish.

Daniel Pipes, president of the Middle East Forum, observes: “While CAIR may not have known about the execrable 2008 Facebook post, it says much about it that someone with views as horrid as Osman’s sought CAIR out as an employer and that CAIR hired him.”

Ironically, a bill currently before the Minnesota legislature, H.F 2587, nominates CAIR Minnesota to join a taskforce addressing the “impact of Islamophobia and antisemitism.”

PHILADELPHIA – August 20, 2024 – A member of Maryland’s “Commission on Hate Crimes Response and Prevention” is out of a job. Ayman Nassar, the second Islamist commissioner to get tossed from the hate crimes board within three months, resigned on August 19 amid public outrage over his role in terror-linked organizations and his history of anti-American, antisemitic, and homophobic hate speech.

Nassar has accused Israel of harvesting the organs of living Palestinians and shared posts referring to Gaza as a “Holocaust.” He is chairman of the Aafia Foundation, a “terrorist support group” that seeks to free “Lady Al Qaeda” Aafia Siddiqui and other convicted terrorists from prison.
PHILADELPHIA – July 31, 2024 – Hours after Israel assassinated two leading figures of designated terrorist organizations, Middle East Forum (MEF) experts took to major media outlets to explain what the killings mean for Israel and the region.

Israeli forces killed Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukur in Beirut on Tuesday, while Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh died Wednesday from an Israeli strike in Tehran. Both men caused the deaths of innocent civilians as well as Israeli and American soldiers.

Writing today for the Wall Street Journal, MEF president Daniel Pipes argued that since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attacks, Israel has unfortunately followed “two opposite policies” simultaneously: “destroy the organization and make a deal with it.”
