PHILADELPHIA – November 4, 2022 – Jonathan Spyer has joined the Middle East Forum as director of research, a new position, to guide the organization’s intellectual content.
Mr. Spyer, a journalist, co-founded the Middle East Center for Reporting and Analysis. He reports regularly for Janes Intelligence Review, is a columnist at the Jerusalem Post, and is a contributor to the Wall Street Journal. He has a BA from the London School of Economics, an MA from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, and a PhD from the London School of Economics.
He is the author of two books: The Transforming Fire: The Rise of the Israel-Islamist Conflict (2010) and Days of the Fall: A Reporter’s Journey in the Syria and Iraq Wars (2017).
“My goal is to help keep MEForum.org pertinent and lively,” Mr. Spyer stated, “while adding new features in the area of Middle East content. I also look forward to working with Forum staff and fellows to develop in-depth research and writing projects.”
