Michael Rubin, a member of the Middle East Intelligence Bulletin editorial board, is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. He recently served for 18 months as an Iraq and Iran advisor in the Department of Defense. During this period he also served as a Coalition Provisional Authority political officer in Iraq. Rubin is the author of Into the Shadows: Radical Vigilantes in Khatami's Iran (2001) and numerous articles in publications such as The New Republic, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Middle East Quarterly.
